EU rolls over sanctions against Russia over Crimea till Jun 2021

BRUSSELS, Jun 18 (PRIME) -- The Council of Europe has prolonged the sanctions against Russia over Crimea until June 23, 2021, according to a statement of the authority seen by PRIME on Thursday.

The measures forbid E.U. states citizens and companies to import products from Crimea, invest in the economy of the peninsula, provide tourism services, export technological, transport and telecommunications, energy, oil and gas development and mining-related goods.

In 2014, relations between Russia and the West deteriorated to their worse since the Cold War due to a military conflict in Ukraine. The West introduced sanctions against some Russian individuals and firms and further against the energy and banking sectors. In response, Russia limited food imports from some countries, including the U.S., the E.U., Canada, Australia, and Norway.
